Frequently Asked Questions

The BYD lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP for short) is particularly resource-efficient, durable, and extremely safe. It's not only free of cobalt, nickel, manganese, or cadmium —meaning it's free of those toxic heavy metals whose use and mining are repeatedly criticized—but also virtually inflammable, as impressively demonstrated in the "nail penetration test": https://youtu.be/CSGESKhtZD0?si=vvrOGR7zjy_iZQuc .

On the AC side, all cars—except the HAN—currently charge three-phase at 11 kW. DC charging power ranges from 88 kW (DOLPHIN) to 230 kW (new SEALION 7). Information on charging times can be found in the respective vehicle brochure.

We currently have 32 locations of 29 BYD partners in Austria. All partners sell and service BYD vehicles – except for the two locations in the largest shopping malls.

Statistically speaking, the risk of fire in an electric car is 25 per 1,000,000, compared to 1,539 per 1,000,000 for combustion engines – meaning diesel and gasoline vehicles are 60 times more likely to catch fire. Thanks to LFP technology, our BYD Blade Battery is also considered the safest traction battery on the market.

In terms of durability, the BYD BLADE BATTERY is designed for more than 5,000 complete charge and discharge cycles, or, based on a rough calculation of 300 km per charge, 1,500,000 kilometers.
